Birthday, Christmas Time And Owies

Sticker face Mia.
My oldest brother's little girl turned 8 and the girls went to her birthday party.
Hope getting ready to blow out the candles.
We had two Christmas parties in one week.  First we had Eric's work party.  We had a dinner down in Ogden and did a white elephant.  This year they also had big prizes to give away and We got a TV!  I couldn't believe it, we never win things like that.  Well I guess I can't say that anymore :)

The next day we had our ward Christmas party.  We had a dinner catered by Bluebird and it was delicious.  There wasn't too much of a program but the primary children did go on the stage and sing a couple of Christmas songs.  Kyla has been going to the "big" primary for part of the time on Sundays because she'll be a sunbeam next year! Still doesn't seem like she is that old.  She was so excited to be able go up with the primary kids.  She has been wanting to all year, every time Abby went up she wanted to go too.
Abby and Kyla were front and center and sang their hearts out.
This year I decided to make a real gingerbread house, usually when we do this we just use graham crackers.  Besides not making the roof big enough it turned out good and I think I will be doing that from now on, but probably a little one for each girl.  Abby and Kyla really enjoyed putting candy on.  Mia put a couple on and then decided she'd rather eat it.

Abby's side all decorated.

Kyla's side all decorated.
This is our Christmas tree all decorated this year.  Besides not having any decorations on the bottom half and the lights being all bunched up I like it a lot.

Grandmama, my mom, takes Kyla and Mia to storytime every Wednesday and this time Santa visited and Kyla knew just what to do.  She told him exactly what she wanted.  For the next two days she kept saying, "Ho ho ho, merry Christmas!"

The last part of my title was about owies and we've had some good ones this past week.  On Thursday Abby slipped and hit her head on the toilet paper roll holder and gave herself and deep cut.  I took her to instacare and they glued it together, she was a trooper.
The next day Mia fell in between our couch and the window and smacked her eye on the window sill.  That owie got super swollen super fast and scared me.  She could barely open her eye.  We were about to leave for a trip down to Salt Lake City to see the lights but went to the doctor.  They said we were lucky that the skin didn't break open and that there will be a lot of scar tissue that might not go away for years but she would be okay.  After the swelling goes down we just need to make sure her vision in that eye isn't bad.  All we could do is give her medicine and ice it.  You cannot keep ice on a 20 month old, but she was super good.  She cried for a while when it first happened, but quickly quieted down and just wanted me to hold her.
About a half hour to an hour after it happened.  The swelling was already going down.  She kept smiling for all our pictures we tried taking.
We decided to go down to see the lights still.  The doctor even said we should go and have fun, Mia would be fine.  I knew Mia would be good, she just has that personality where she doesn't let things stop her or get her down.  She napped on the drive down.  We stopped in Bountiful and visited Eric's brother and his family then head down to look at lights.
All the girls bundled up and waiting to go.
We met my brother and his family down there and enjoyed the lights and company.  It drizzled on us the whole time we were walking around, but it wasn't too bad.  On the drive home it turned to snow, the roads weren't bad though, just got hard to see.  We made it home just fine though.

This picture is of Mia's eye two days after it happened.  The swelling has gone down so much but it's still swollen and the bruise is just getting worse.  It doesn't seem to bug her much, only when she first wakes up she will say ow and touch her eye.

And here's to hoping no more doctor visit come our way.
