What Am I Going To Do With This Boy!

*WARNING* This is a pretty long post...

So the latest and most stressful thing in our lives right now is Eric and his ailing body. On September 14th Eric woke up with intense pain in his abdomen, so much so that he couldn't really walk. This has actually happened before but went away and he didn't do anything about it because we don't have medical insurance for him or me. (side note if you are uninsured find a way to become insured, don't be stupid like us) Well this time we did see a doctor and the doctor had Eric get a CT scan and he was diagnosed with diverticulitis. Diverticulitis is a common digestive disease particularly found in the large intestine. Diverticulitis develops from diverticulosis, which involves the formation of pouches (diverticula) on the outside of the colon. Diverticulitis results if one of these diverticula becomes inflamed. I must also mention that this usually only happens in elderly people because it is believed that diet and lack of fiber is what causes this. So it is not common in young people especially 26 years old. The way to take care of this is through oral antibiotics. Well that's what normal people do and they can get better in a few days and then just watch what they eat. Not Eric, Eric did not improve but got worse and they decided to put him on a liquid diet and liquid antibiotics in the hospital for 3 days.

Eric's pain did lessen for a while but did not go away and got even worse so they did another CT scan and found a small closed perforation. This means that something has ruptured but is not leaking all over in his abdomen yet so they put him in the hospital for another 4 days. Eric was going to have surgery to remove part of his colon that had the rupture but the doctor got a second opinion and the other doctor said that he wasn't convinced that Eric had diverticulitis! Are you kidding me! So now we are waiting for Eric to heal enough that he can have a colonoscopy done to find out what really is wrong and he will still most likely have surgery. Well if this wasn't bad enough he hasn't been able to work for a month now because he is still in daily pain and it hurts the most when he is sitting up (which is what he does all day at work) and he had to drop out of school. We have no idea when Eric will be able to go back to work so I will need to start looking for a job really soon to pay of all these doctor and hospital bills that are piling up. Plus we are still in Preston which makes it hard for traveling back and forth to his doctors. I do want to give a shout out to my sister-in-laws who have helped watch Abby while Eric and I were running all over town and in and out of the hospital especially Reesa who would watch Abby on zero notice. You are my heroes!! And Abby has loved playing with her cousins. So we are still waiting to find out what is really wrong with Eric and what will need to be done to fix it. Can I just say that I'm stressed out.
